Allan W. Horner


Allan is a Partner, Investment Advisor and a member of the Investment Committee at Criterion Capital Advisors.  He brings close to three decades of investment and financial experience to the table.  Prior to founding Criterion in 2005, he was a Financial Advisor, Portfolio Manager and Branch Manager for Legg Mason Inc, a leading global investment company.  Allan’s first career was spent with Federated Insurance Companies helping small business owners with their insurance and retirement planning needs.

Allan earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Eastern Kentucky University.  He is active in the community, and is currently the Chairman of the Administrative Board at West End Methodist Church, where he has been a member for over 25 years.  Other leadership positions include past Co-President of the Hume-Fogg Magnet High School Parents Association, past Board Chairman of the Seven Hills Swim and Tennis Club and coach of youth sports for many years.  

Allan and his wife, Gretchen, have three children.  He enjoys running, reading, snow skiing, biking, hiking, and almost all fitness activities in his spare time.

Mark is a Partner, Investment Advisor and Investment Committee member here at Criterion Capital. He has more than two decades of financial services experience and holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ certification as well as the Certified Public Accountant certification (currently inactive). Mark’s financial planning expertise and accountancy expertise are instrumental in engineering comprehensive customized financial and retirement plans for our clients at Criterion.

Mark’s passion is being a steward for clients and their families - objectively guiding them via their financial plan to help them ultimately meet their life’s goals.

Prior to joining the Criterion team, he worked with several firms including Merrill Lynch and Ronald Blue & Co., helping affluent clients with their financial needs. Early in his career, Mark also provided audit services with Arthur Anderson, primarily focused on the financial services industry.

Mark earned his Master of Accountancy degree from The University of Tennessee-Knoxville and his Bachelor of Accountancy degree from The University of Mississippi. He is active in the community serving as a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America and is an advocate for Tennessee public schools.

Mark and his wife, Mary, have been married over 25 years and have four children. He enjoys spending time with his family, outdoor activities and an occasional round of golf.

Scott is an Investment Advisor, Partner and serves as the firm's Chief Compliance Officer. In addition, he is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. Scott has been dedicated to helping clients grow their assets and reach financial security for over a decade.  Scott's passion for the business centers around the ability to work with great clients tackling life events through financial planning and prudent portfolio design.  He enjoys digging into the weeds to find the right strategy and investments to help meet the client’s specific financial goals. 

Prior to Criterion, Scott was a Principal of Centennial Wealth Management, a boutique investment advisory firm, where he was the primary advisor and portfolio manager. Prior to Centennial, he was a fundamental stock research analyst and an institutional equity salesman at Avondale Partners, a national investment bank. Scott holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a Master of Finance from Loyola College Maryland.

Scott and his wife, Allison, have two young children. He enjoys running, tennis, and watching his hometown Tennessee Titans.

Alison is managing our financial planning process and client service standards - all in an effort to continue to deliver the best service possible to our clients. Alison is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and has a background in digital marketing and website management. She ensures that we are delivering tailored financial plans as well as meaningful content to our clients.

Alison has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry.  Alison worked for Advisor Growth Strategies, an elite consulting firm that provides RIAs' business consulting, compensation modeling and succession planning. Prior to Advisor Growth, Alison had a successful and tenured career at Charles Schwab and Co. Inc., working with internal clients providing regulatory and compliance advice and guidance to Executives, Branch Managers and Financial Consultants all while always balancing the client experience. At the onset of her Schwab career, she worked with clients face to face in the Scottsdale office.

Alison enjoys precious time with her husband, two kids and two doodles as well as hot yoga and walking with friends. The Uchrin family loves to participates in family golf, backyard wiffle ball tournaments, cooking and baking goodies.

 As our Client Relationship Manager, Ashley is an integral part of the Criterion Capital Advisors team. She is the “pinnacle of customer service” and with each client interaction she creates a lasting exemplary impression.  Ashley’s passion for treating clients like family carries over to all the functions she performs.

Ashley comes with a wealth of experience, having worked at Southwestern Investment Group as an Operations Manager in Franklin for the past 7 years and prior to that 7 years in the banking industry. Both her experience and her knowledge of operations in the financial industry are critical for our business and for our clients. 

Ashley was born and raised right here in Nashville, Tennessee and went to Christ Presbyterian Academy. She has 2 young children; a son named Brooks and a daughter Riley.  Ashley is also a big UT Volunteers fan. Ashley’s passion is being a St. Jude Hero and volunteers whenever she is able.

Gretchen Horner, CPA


Gretchen is currently the Controller at Criterion Capital, and works on a part time basis.  She is a graduate of the University of Denver with a BS in Accounting.  She has worked over 30 years as a practicing CPA, starting her career at Arthur Andersen and most recently worked as the Controller of a private company.  She has served as Treasurer of several schools and non-profit groups, most recently for the parents’ association of the Harpeth Hall school.  Gretchen works with Criterion’s internal processes and finances as well as managing our technology platform.
